SOCCER!

•August 15, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Gabby had her first soccer practice today. She did very well! She made us very proud!
A little background…Gabby asked us if she could play soccer. I am not a fan of soccer, but I’m not about to stifle an interest simply because I’m not a fan. The league she is playing in is through the YMCA. The motto is “Kick Hard, Run Fast, Have Fun!” Gabby indeed did so this morning.
Practice was about an hour. A couple drills and a short game. (a huddle of preschoolers kicking each other more than the ball…it was awesome!)

60 years…one more time, 60 years!

My grandparents celebrated 60 years of marriage last month. 60 years!!!! What a wonderful day. Grandma and Grandpa were both very happy. The girls were well behaved and looked cute as could be in their dresses. Really, it was a good day.

Home from vacation

•August 3, 2009 • Leave a Comment

What a good vacation! The weather may not have been perfect, but we had a wonderful time. The girls built lots of sand castles, went swimming, played games, fished, ate marshmallows at campfires, hiked waterfalls and even stalked/scared fellow resort dwellers (more on this in a bit).
Gabby is a good fisherman for age four. She caught a couple perch from the dock all by herself. Madi tried, but a little more coordination is needed…maybe next year.
It was a bit cooler than usual this year. It was a bit rainy too. We still made it into the lake a couple times. Brrrrrr! That was cold! The girls loved it. We swam to the raft which is a big deal to both of them.
On Thursday morning the girls were ready to climb the walls because we were holed up due to rain. I decided forget the rain let’s go have fun. The girls put on hoodies and their swimming goggles. I put on a hoodie and a full scuba style mask. Off we went across the resort to surprise Grandma/Grandpa in their cabin. Did we ever! We even got Uncle JB and Aunt Cathy in theirs! Then a few unsuspecting people wandering around the resort. Surprise! We had soooooo much fun doing this. Now I just have to keep the girls from doing the same to our neighbors now that we are home. :-)
Again, good time had by all. Mom got some much needed rest. The girls got some much needed outdoor fun. Dad got the best of both.

Vacation Time!!!

Bags are being packed. The kids are excited. Dad is really looking forward to being out of Central Illinois for a while.
We will be in Northern Wisconsin all next week. This is our annual trip to the cabin. Supposed to be pretty mild up there next week.
Here’s where we will be:

Zoo show

•July 12, 2009 • Leave a Comment

We had a wonderful summer day yesterday. We started the day by going to visit and feed the ducks at Washington Park. The girls had fun. The ducks weren’t too traumatized.
After lunch and naps we went to the zoo. Normal zoo day really. One of the neat things is that the bears were active…normally they are sleeping when we are there. Another neat thing was when Gabby decided to put on a dancing show for us. See the video for full coverage.

Happy 4th!

•July 4, 2009 • 1 Comment

The weather here stinks today. A bit chilly yet a whole lot rainy.
Thankfully we got out yesterday to enjoy some nice outdoor time. We went to Lincoln Memorial Gardens again. The girls had a good time chasing rabits, smelling flowers and watching all the boats on the lake. After hiking in the woods pancakes from Cracker Barrel was on the menu. Of course the girls had to be silly on the wagon out front. :-)
Can you believe it has been one year since the reunion in New Mexico? I was looking through pictures from the trip yesterday. What a good time? I can not believe how much the girls have grown in a year. Sheesh.

Happy Father’s Day

Low key father’s day at Pacelli South. Watched the Sox game (they won of course) and hung out with my ladies. The girls played one of Gabby’s games on the couch while I watched baseball. They played surprisingly well today.

Happy Father’s Day Daddy-o’s!

C-c-catch up!

Sorry for the delay…login for the site pooped out on me! Back up and running.

Everyone is doing well. Summer has begun. Mom and the girls are enjoying their YMCA passes. Mom gets to go work out whenever she wants while the girls hang out with other kids in the “nursery.” Then on Monday’s and Tuesday’s Gabby and Madi go to Gym-n-Swim class. Half hour in the gym playing games, doing tumbling and rumpasing with other kids. Then a half hour in the pool learning swimming basics: how to get in, what it means to float or sink, how to hold your breath and such. They love it. Both classes have parental involvment. Mom is the lucky one who gets to partake.

Mom and I have a short trip coming up to St. Louis. We are meeting up with Pacelli North and thier gaggle of malcontents in their roller coaster club (ACE). We have a whole day planned at Six Flags St. Louis. We can’t wait. This should be a really good time. (the girls are staying with Gma and Gpa Daley)

Finally, here’s a group of silly pics of the girls. I can’t say it enough. They are so much fun. We dance. We tumble. We just have fun!

Can’t get enough Madi

•June 2, 2009 • 1 Comment

She’s two. She’s got opinions. She’s one nutty kid. Whether she is dressing up as a princes or putting a swimsuit on in a unique way, there’s never a dull moment with Madi.
